Privacy and your data
Content and linked guidance reviewed on 14 October 2026. Each city source retains its own data period and checked date.
This page describes the site’s implemented behavior. Beyond the Stipend is a static website; it does not provide visitor accounts, cloud budget synchronization, a newsletter signup or a payment checkout.
Your budget and checklist
Unsaved amounts are used by JavaScript in the current page and reset on reload. Choosing “Save this budget” stores the city, six cost amounts, stipend, currency, duration, housing coverage, deposit, delay, extra costs and save time in this browser’s local storage. Checklist selections are also stored locally. These records are not intentionally sent to a Beyond the Stipend application server.
Remove saved plans using their Remove control. Clearing this site’s browser storage removes saved plans and checklist progress. Local records have no automatic expiry; private browsing and browser cleanup may remove them. Downloading a CSV creates a file on your device. Anyone with access to that file or browser profile may be able to read it.
Exchange-rate service
The planner requests USD reference rates from Frankfurter ↗. This request does not include your budget amounts. As with any request to another website, the service receives connection information such as your IP address. A bundled rate snapshot is used if live refresh fails. Manual rates remain in page memory for the current session.
Optional website analytics
Google Analytics 4 loads only after you choose “Allow analytics”. You can choose “Decline” and continue using the site. Your choice is stored on this browser under bts-analytics-consent-v1. Use the control below to review your choice; declining stops future analytics collection by this site, but does not undo data already received by Google.
The configuration disables Google signals and advertising personalization. After consent, the site records generic actions when a budget is saved or downloaded, saved budgets are compared, or a resource link is opened. The site supplies the action name without adding budget amounts, selected city, form values, resource destination URLs or saved-plan contents as custom event parameters. When enabled, analytics also receives page and browser information and can use cookies; a city guide’s page path identifies that guide. Page query strings and fragments are excluded from the configured page location, and the configured referrer is reduced to its origin. The existing web stream also enables enhanced measurement, including scrolls and outbound clicks; those automatic events can include link destinations separately from our custom actions. The presence of a tag does not establish that every visit is measured.
Read how Google uses information from partner sites ↗. Browser controls and Google’s Analytics opt-out add-on ↗ offer additional controls. Clearing saved plans is separate from controlling analytics cookies; clearing all site storage also removes the stored analytics choice.
Hosting, images and outbound links
The hosting service receives normal requests needed to serve pages and assets and may keep operational access logs. The current site does not specify its host’s retention settings. City photos, fonts and provider icons are served locally or by system fonts in the shipped site. Opening an external resource transfers you to that provider, which has its own privacy practices.
No approved affiliate tracking is currently installed. If compensated links are added, their disclosure and this notice must be updated to describe the actual integration. Ordinary links to commercial providers do not themselves establish an affiliate relationship.
Contact and changes
A verified public owner contact and the operator’s legal identity have not yet been supplied. This prevents us from offering a working privacy-request channel here. See Contact and corrections. This notice is an account of current functionality, not a claim that all legal or provider requirements have been completed.
